In the Shadows – Bears and Bigfoot - Article 54

In the past few years, there have been a lot of purported sightings of Bigfoot that have been discovered to be bears in the woods.  People may laugh at this, but the best-known example of this is the Jacob’s Creature in Pennsylvania, where it’s still being claimed to be a juvenile Bigfoot eating bait at a camera station in the woods.  Even though the photos before and after quite clearly show other bear cubs eating the food, the appearance of a cub that is quite eaten up by the mange comes up and eats from the food too.  One well-known Bigfoot organization still strongly supports the juvenile Bigfoot claim, while about 90% of legitimate Bigfoot researchers have deemed it a bear cub with mange.

In these parts, we’ve been told officially for years that we don’t have black bears and mountain lions, although a lot of folks in this area have seen both with their own eyes for decades.  One of the things I’ve noticed about our black bears, is on average, they are about the size of a Great Pyrenees dog, although some have grown a lot larger, but thankfully they don’t get the size of Grizzly Bears.

For most of the people in this area that hunt and hang out in the woods, usually since they were a child, when they come forward with a sighting report of Bigfoot, I’m fairly confident they know the difference between a Bigfoot and a bear.  For the most part, bears stay on all fours while moving, only standing on their hind legs to see around their surroundings better or to reach for food higher up.

There are several differences that are most noticeable between bears and Bigfoot, the main one is that bears ears are prominently displayed on the top of their head while Bigfoot ears are on the side of the head.  The snout on a Bigfoot is no where pronounced as that of a bear, and the bear doesn’t have shoulders like a Bigfoot does.

The current theory is that where bears can be found, Bigfoot is also in the area, yet I find it hard to believe that two apex predators would share the same territory with each other.  Of course, we don’t know much about Bigfoot, except that he seems to live in the woods, is hairy, and has big feet.

We are just a few short weeks away from the Oklahoma Bigfoot Symposium, being held March 12th and 13th at CC Camp, make plans now to come down and visit with the Bigfoot researchers and ask them any and all questions you may have about Bigfoot.  They may not be able to answer all of them, but they can probably holler at someone that does have the answer.  See you there.
