Thermal Camera Drop Box

D.W. "Darkwing" Lee has been working on a new concept similar to the audio drop box that the Mid-America Bigfoot Research Center (MABRC) researchers use in their research, in which audio recorders placed in drop boxes are placed out around a large area to collect audio recordings.  This concept has evolved into the thermal camera drop box, in which a thermal camera, with audio being recorded at the same time to just one video file.  Here is the information that D.W. has provided on Facebook.

While I am a believer in Bigfoot, I am so skeptical of all the so-called evidence that is posted on social media anymore, however, I've developed a new idea for my research, especially on expeditions with my group the Mid-America Bigfoot Research Center (MABRC) so I've developed Thermal Camera Drop boxes, much like the audio drop boxes we use. Like the audio drop boxes, these can be deployed well away from the camp in likely areas where a possible Bigfoot may be encountered, like a watering hole, well used game trail, etc, etc. It can also be used for so-called habituation locations where it can dispute what the land owner is claiming is going on, or confirm it. Anyway, here is what the Thermal camera drop boxes are like.

Three Thermal drop boxes completed, the original design evolved quickly, but not only does these drop boxes record thermal video, but it also adds the audio of what is going on at the same time, and the addition of Apple tags add in recovery so it's not necessary to wait until daytime to go pick them up for whatever reason, just using my Iphone to track them down on the location. The newer battery that was decided upon so far has been going for 16 hours, hopefully a lot longer than the original battery I chose to try. Here are the pictures.

Pic one shows 1-The thermal camera mounted in the case with the lens outside the box. 2-The superear microphone that is connected to the DVR (3) and 4 is the battery at the bottom of the case and has a layer of bubble wrap underneath and above it to protect the electronics in the box should it get jumbled around, the apple tag is secured below the camera so that it's not viewable.

Picture two shows where I've numbered the boxes (1) while of course (2) should be self explanatory 🙂

Picture three shows the protective cover (2) over the thermal lens that gets removed once the box is deployed while (1) is the microphone of the superear with a wind sock over it.

Once I get the length of recording time and battery time down, I will deploy them overnight in the back yard, then for the ultimate test, going to take them up to Splatter's pasture and pond and set them up for the first real field test. This way no one should be in her field and I can feel a little secure about them not walking off while unsupervised.

Only two more to finish building, already have the boxes, the thermal cameras, just need the battery and DVRs for them. Making progress, can't wait to get them all done and get out on an expedition with them.

They will be on display and in operation at the 2025 Oklahoma Bigfoot Symposium for those who want to check them out in person.

Bigfoot drummer??

While continuing going through old audio files, I came across an incident that had me shake my head in disbelief.  Something appears to be beating on a plastic tub or bucket in the woods near one of my drop box recorders.  Before and after you hear something approach and walk away (Extended version) while no human speech is heard in the process.  Can I say it was a Bigfoot?  Nope, can't say that, it's posted here because of the fact it did happen in a well known and highly active research area.

Bigfoot Field Guide Presents Orig-6 and Ed Smith

For many in the Bigfoot Community who are newer, you won't have much of a clue who Ed Smith is, or the Daisy in the Box incident that led to his ultimate dismissal from the Bigfoot Community, never to show his face again.

Originally, he approached the MABRC on their forums, with lots of great technical talk and detail to what he was posting, this in turn led to some trust being developed before things slowly became stagnant with Ed and all his promises and claims.

Then one fateful day, he announced "Daisy is in the box" on the MABRC Forums without consulting anyone and the Internet exploded.

This is the book, complete with screen captures, documents and more, that tells the story of that Incident and the key scenes that led to it all.  So delve into the book, it's being released for free, and keep abreast of any additional information that is placed here about it.
