If you have watched any of the TV shows on Bigfoot, you’ve probably noticed how many of them portray Bigfoot as an overly aggressive, dangerous animal that will attack and kill you just for the sake of doing it. In my 30 plus years of Bigfoot research, I’ve never encountered a Bigfoot that I would term as aggressive, although I did put myself in harm’s way more times than I can count.
For the most part, TV shows are for entertainment value, and this includes the multitude of Bigfoot radio shows out there, they have to make their content entertaining to keep viewers interested and coming back for more episodes.
I’m well known for diving into the underbrush in an attempt to flush out the Bigfoot into the open so that others can get a good look, or pictures and video. The only real time I ever confronted what I would say was a possible aggressive Bigfoot was when I came around a turn in the trail on my four-wheeler and my headlights shined on two Bigfoot carrying a calf on their shoulders, the rear of my four-wheeler lifted up and I could see the hairy shoulder of the Bigfoot that had stopped me cold on my four-wheeler. It wasn’t truly aggressive, because truthfully, it could have just as easily ripped me off the four-wheeler and tore me apart, but I think more than anything, it was just trying to keep me from running into the other two Bigfoot and making them drop their dinner.
This is not to say that Bigfoot is some kind of forest friend like some try to portray, I do not doubt one bit that if you cornered a Bigfoot, that it would respond just as any wild animal would and come out in attack mode in order to get away. Or if you approach a young Bigfoot, I’m sure mama Bigfoot would like tear your arm off and beat you to death with it.
While encountering a Bigfoot has different effects on an individual basis, the best advice I can give you is to slowly back off the encounter if the Bigfoot doesn’t break off contact, you never know, Bigfoot may just be having a really crappy day of being chased through the woods by researchers and may want to just thump someone, or it may just want to be left alone.
